...At First Glance
Coyote's original form stands at 5'10"/178cm and looks like a blend between the characteristics of his parent species and those of humans. He is covered in fur and has the feet, tail, and head of a canine. His hands are human shaped and clawed. In modern times he rarely uses this form unless he needs it for fighting or freaking out random humans.

His second form could blend in with any pack of coyotes, at least until it stands on its hind legs and starts talking to you.

As a master of shapeshifting Coyote can appear in any human form he wants, though it is easier to impersonate someone whose image he has recently seen. If distracted or just not bothering to choose an identity he will revert to a default human form. This form is the same height as the hybrid form, copper skinned, lean and long faced, with messy black shoulder length hair. He will appear to be in his early 20s unless he has reason to alter this.

Coyote pays little attention to clothing and tends to throw on whatever is available and looks presentable. Sometimes he doesn't even bother with this, shifting from animal to human form with no regard to who happens to be watching. If the human form was one bystanders did not want to see naked, all the better.

...Skin Deep
Coyote is an eternal optimist. There is no situation, he believes, which is too great for him to overcome. If met with failure he will either persist in the belief that someday he will have his way, or turn his nose up at the situation with an "I meant to do that" attitude and move on.

His insatiable curiosity drives him roam the world at random. He loves to involve himself in people's lives, for however brief a time he happens to be in town. This can range from petty pranks played against a single person to elaborate schemes designed to generate wide-scale chaos. The goal is always to answer the question "what happens if I do this?"

Food and women are other favorite pastimes. Food tastes sweetest when earned through a con or eaten in a way that makes mealtimes awkward for everyone else. Human women are better company than the other animal spirits, who have had a long time to grow sick of his antics.

He does not like anything that ties him down or tries to force him to follow rules. He has had many children with other animal spirits and humans (born inheriting the ability to turn into coyotes but mortal), and did not stick around to help raise any of them.

Despite his general selfishness, there are lines Coyote will not cross. Messing with someone's head is more fun than getting them badly injured or killed. He likes humans, and sometimes steps in to help them out of some interesting problem. If it offers a chance to show off, he may even risk great bodily harm to protect others. This is especially true for his brother Gray Fox and sister in law Red Fox. Despite his teasing, he cares for them more than he wishes to admit.

...All Work And All Play
Coyote rarely has the patience to attempt holding down traditional jobs, though he may accept payment for offering a quick solution to a problem. Sometimes he will steal money, food, or supplies, especially if it can be done in a way that offers some kind of challenge. His shapeshifting talent is routinely abused in the most amusing ways possible, such as dine-and-dashing at a restaurant all day long as different people wearing the same outfit.

The other animal spirits have over the years reluctantly conceded that he has his uses when difficult problems arise. Though he isn't much of a fighter he has managed to outwit and kill a number of monsters, especially in the early days when humans were a new race and needed protection. He has the ability to be brought back from the dead, though only Gray Fox has been patient enough to find him and do this again and again and again…

... Everything In Between
He has been here since before the Creator even made humans. As far as he knows he will be here to see the end of the world, and he can't wait to find out how that happens. In between are countless opportunities for amusement. In the beginning he worked harder to shape the course of history, especially in his efforts to protect and teach the growing human population. Now that monsters are rare and humans have exploded in numbers greater than even he could have predicted, there is plenty of time to wander and see what they will get up to next.
