The art computer is fixed! :w00t!: Now I can finally finish my mythology comic thingy. =)

In case you do not already know, I am fascinated by mythology. I have read a lot of stories from many different cultures, and have tried to pay attention to trends that run throughout them. Using these observations I have made a hypothetical creation myth for an unknown culture (people who worship animals? fantasy anthro race?)

Like many of my ideas each element of this story came from a different random source. =p

The Celestial Panther-
One of my oldest characters, he probably dates back to 2004 or 2005. I created him during class in high school one day, a little doodle of a cat with the earth encircled protectively in its tail. I got the idea that he could be the main deity of some religion, but otherwise I didn’t know what to do with him. I only drew him a few times, and since his design was so hard to get right he looked different each time. I do kind of like the idea of him as an ever shifting, half solid being though. This was the best example I could find [link]

Noitac and Noina-
Much newer characters, I created them last year, again during a class. Originally they were going to be shapeshifting humans, but the story I tried to write for them didn’t work out so I decided to make them gods and put them in the Celestial Panther’s storyline instead. They represent harmony, in a kind of yin and yang sort of way. This duality is even reflected in their names. I won’t say where I got them, but you are free to guess. =p

The Great Fight-
The story was taken directly from a weird dream I had little while ago. In the dream there was a pair of primordial gods, male and female, and the female god stabbed the male on the arm and his blood fell to the earth to become the source for all creation.

Coccous and Cacco-
Probably the most random of all. A pair of characters that came to me in another dream. They were demon mates, and I even got the exact names and spellings from the dream.

Process-
Sketched out storyboard in graphite
Individual lines in graphite and ink pen
Colored with photoshop

Thank you. =) Not quite as complicated as your comic, but still fun to make. =D

Five exclamation marks, the sure sign of an insane mind. - Reaper Man (Terry Pratchett)

By saying that you are afraid of the wolves, you admit to being a sheep.

Pssh. I enjoyed it. I especially liked the part about the blood. :)

I have to say this is very interesting. But I have a question. After the demon gods were created, did Noitac and Noina do anything or let them be?

Thank you.
After everything was created and suffering was brought into the world Noitac and Noina realized that the Demons provide a sort of balance. They do not destroy or stop them, but they will sometimes intervene in someone’s favor if that person has lived a good life or prays a lot.

Oh, I understand. ^__^ The story itself sounds interesting.

I think this concept is very good. It really does sound like an actual culture's mythology. Have you done research on how mythology is structured and such, or have you just read a lot of culture's mythology? :XD:
:iconleonca:
Thank you. =D
I haven’t done research exactly, but I have tried to pay attention to patterns. The exact culture or tribe a certain myth may belong to does not always stick in my head, but I do notice recurring themes. Symbols, animal characters, how pacing and numbers affect story structure, that kind of thing. =)
