My first Akita

The Akita has been my favorite dog breed ever since sometime in high school, but up until now I’ve never had a chance to meet one. These people kindly let me photograph their dogs when I met them on a walk to document the snowpocalypse. She didn’t pay me much attention except for sniffing and licking drool on my gloves, but that alone was a good reminder that these are not all vicious monsters despite their bad reputation. She may be overweight, but she’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
