Horse Anthro Anatomy

Description

I’ve been studying equine anatomy recently, and the idea for this popped into my head. I tried to draw something that would show what a horse would look like if its bone structure were matched to that of a human. I’ve noticed that when people draw anthro horses or werehorses (including me in the past) they usually give them five fingered hands with little hooves on the fingertips. It was interesting to learn that, although horses walk on one toe, they have the remnants of two others on each leg.
I don’t think something like this would actually work for bipedal locomotion, but I would imagine that if a horse were to try to walk plantigrade like a human the two smaller toes would be helpful for keeping balance.
Anatomical terms listed first, horseman’s second.

I’ll get around to coloring him later. I’m thinking of making him a red paint horse (I forget if that’s the correct term for those markings). He’s wearing some kind of loincloth-type thing, since I didn’t feel like trying to draw normal clothing on him.

Thank you for this. Seeing anthro horses that are basically just human bodies + horse head and hooves just feel wrong.

It's somehow okay for canines and felines, as they are so similar in body structure anyway, but for hooved animals I'd like to see a little more thought, like this.

(I'm about to upload some reflections on how to draw a face that is inbetween human and horse, and trying not to make it nightmare fuel, haha)
